Elephantastic Pink New Year (NOTD)

Just want to show you gals the nail colour I am sporting for this CNY.

Elephantastic Pink, by OPI!!!

This pink is really fantastic! It's exactly the same shade as one of my tank tops from Dorothy Perkins. And I wore that tank top with a short-sleeve, non-button, white cardigan, and white shorts-skirt from OP, topped with my cream leather belt, and ended in gold straps, white platform Havaianas, for visiting yesterday.

This pink looks so Barbie and so CNY! LOVES LOVES.

******

I actually tried Burgundy by E.L.F last Saturday. But the quality was quite bad, and the colour, though more formal (for work), was really, really dull for CNY. I just couldn't stand it, and decided to paint on a new code on Monday.

Despite some reviews that I've read about E.L.F nail polish being cheap and good, I honestly don't think it's worth your money at all. But I think I will only review it in detail the next time. =)

SkinZ Infinite Eye Revive Therapy

Happy Chinese New Year to all!!!

I posted about the SkinZ Youth Recall Serum some five months ago, and I gave it quite a good rating. In that post, I mentioned that I got the serum along with two other items in a travel kit. Inside this travel kit, there is also the eye cream by SkinZ, which I only got to try last month, when my Jericho Eye Gel ran out. Hence, the late review for it.

I'd have loved to try all SkinZ products at the same time, as they always say it's better to use all from one brand, since it would most likely produce enhanced results. But personally, I do not stubbornly believe in this theory, and I also prefer to not keep opening new products when my old one has not finished. So here goes.

SkinZ Infinite Eye Revive Therapy

Available: pharmacies

Volume: 5ml

Star Properties: Bio-Stem-Cell Activator + UV Protection. Visibly reduce fine lines and brightens eye area.

Packaging
I like the way this tube is in cool, shiny black, and ends in a tiny mouth, so that I can easily control the amount I need to squeeze out.

Texture
This product is more like a serum, than an eye cream, which is good. It is thick enough, yet still very watery and spreadable. It lasts long enough for me to pat it around my eyes 200 times (a trick I learned from Kevin's makeup book). [OOPS, and I actually took the plunge to buy his two-part makeup book, even though I thought it was really gimmicky and expensive when it was just launched last year.]

Results
I am not sure if there are any real results, because my new work is really hectic, and I don't get enough sleep everyday, with many things to worry about, as a newbie. I can only say that I use this to maintain my eyes as much as possible, but I did not detect visible improvements.

I love it: 4/5 hearts.
I would still recommend people to try it, since the texture is good, and I experienced rather satisfactory results with the Skin Serum. Plus, this is very affordable if you find Estee Lauder a pinch. =)

Carbo Blocker & Detox Cleanse, by Guardian Pharmacy

I can't believe I actually agreed to eat this. I guess it was the stress I felt when I gained weight, even though, it is healthy  weight, and I am still not near being overweight, that is, having a Body Mass Index (BMI) of more than 23 (for Asians).

My SO bought these two boxes of stuff from Guardian one day to try for himself. He said it was on offer, made in Netherlands and all, so he decided that there would be no harm trying. In any case, we decided to get another set for me to try, since one bottle would last only 10 days, and we cannot be sharing.

That was how I ended up having these two boxes of stuff at home.

Carbo Blocker & Detox Cleanse, by Guardian Pharmacy

Star Properties: Natural herbs, eliminates toxins.

Directions for use: Take 1-2 tablets before each meal with a full glass of water. It is recommended to take 8-10 glasses of water a day when thaking this product.

Ingredients: Phaseolus vulgaris extract, cichorium intybus extract, garcina camogia extract, micro crystalline cellulose, tricalcium phosphate, hydroxy propylmethyl cellulose, magnesium stearate, silica, stearic acid.

Detox Cleanse
Directions for use: Take 2 tablets in the morning and afternoon after meals with a full glass of water. It is recommended to take 8-10 glasses of water a day when taking this product. Take it for 2 weeks, and continue as necessary.

Ingredients:  Cynara scolymus extract, glycyrrhiza uralensis extract, silibum marianum extract, schisandra chinensis extract, taraxacum officinale extract, ehodiola rosea extract, dicalcium phosphate, microcrystalline cellulose, judroxypropyl methycellulose, lactose, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, stearic acid, povidone, cross providone, titanium dioxide.

Packaging
What caught my SO's attention was the label that the Detox Cleanse (left) is made in Denmark, and the Carbo Blocker is made in Sweden. I guess Singaporeans are still somewhat more bought over by "facts" that things are made in the West, and not Timbaktu.

Anyway, I was also surprised to find that the packaging for this is quite profession, with mild colours, and clear product name. There is also clear directions for use and ingredients printed in large enough fonts on the side of the box.

Helpful
I also think that this product is very helpful, in that, there is a list of FAQs inside the box! However, good things aside, I actually am posting this to share that it did not really work for me.

Side Effect
I get really, really bloated while I was taking these. And I was only on it for about 4 days! I started feeling bad about myself, perhaps physically, perhaps mentally. I would be thinking, "why am I on this thing???" I feel inferior that I have to rely on pills to slim down. It is contradictory for me, because I know that I am capable of disciplining myself to run, carry weights, slim down and tone up the right way! I know I need not use pills. And something in my mind just tells me I should not.

I also lost A LOT of hair during those few days. SOB SOB SOB. This is just a big no-no for girls. I don't want to lose my hair. ( =p OOPS, vainpot here,

Cumbersome
The thing about this product is that you've got to be taking many pills a day. And I cannot be staying home all day, so that means that I have to bring out all my pills.

I even went to buy two pretty pills boxes to store them nicely for AM, PM, DINNER, SUPPER, and another one to sort in days of the week. Goodness.

End
At the end of the day, I could not manage the kind of trouble it brings, the inferiority complex it induces, and the physical pains, that I gave my set of pills back to my SO. He finished it alright. But he did not repurchase.

I guess, we should just go back to being normal.

I love this: 0/5 hearts.
Don't do things like that.

50+ UV LOCK OUT DOOR Sun Block Cream SPF 50 PA+++

Hello everybody!

It's been ages since I last posted. The past half year has been extremely busy for me, as I turn open a new chapter in my life, that is, work.

I really appreciate those who have been checking out my blog while I was away. I love your comments, and have published all of them. Keep them coming! =D

------

Greetings aside, I am logging in today to write about my new found sunblock. Guess what? It's from Nature Republic! Some of you may remember from my older posts that I quite like the concept that Nature Republic offers. So here is another much queried item - The Sun Block.

50+ UV LOCK OUT DOOR Sun Block Cream SPF 50 PA+++

Available: All Nature Republic Outlets (Jurong Point, Bishan Junction 8, 313@Somerset)
Volume: 65ml

Star Properties: Long-lasting, suitable for outdoors, very high SPF.

Packaging
I really like the packaging of this sunscreen the moment I saw it. The box is sleek white with black rims, with the item name printed big and clear. *loves*

The tube itself is orangey orange, with small mouth, and tight screw cap.

Mouth of tube.

Ingredients: Water, cyclopentasiloxane, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, glycerin, ethylhexyl salicyclate, zinc oxide, dipropylene glycol, peg-10 dimethicone, titanium dioxide,  cyclomethicone, disteardimonium hectorite, isodecyl neopentanoate, octyldodecyl neopentanoate, talc, magnesium sulfate, fragrance, methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, alumium hydroxide, alumiuim stearate, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, dimethiconevinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, methicone, polyglyceryl-6-polyricinoleate, propylparaben, trihydroxystearubm ticioheryl acetate, hydrogenated lecithin, arctostaphylos uva ursi leaf extract, centella asiatica extract, gnaphalium leontopodium flower extract, hemamelis virginiana (witch hazel) bark/leaf/twig extract, hedera helix (ivy) extract, macademia ternifolia seed oil, artemisia princeps leaf extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, chaenomeles  sinensis fruit extractm chrysanthemum indicum extract, cinnamomum cassia bark extract, diospyros kaki leaf extract, butylparaben, caprylic/capric triglyceride, ceramide 3, cholesterol, dimethicone, lecithin, alcohol.

Texture
The cream is white and smooth, and so very, very easy to spread all over.

It is also thin enough so that I do feel my skin suffocated.

It is definitely not stick. I don't feel my hair stuck all over my face or my loose powder not being able to set on properly. Very good!

Look
It will make me look just a wee bit paler, but not to the extent of leaving an obvious white cast. For darker skins like mine, this actually serves as a paler shade of brightening foundation as well.

Application
Due to its friendly properties, I am actually using this over a pea size of Dr Jart Black Label BB Cream. I leave about 15 - 20 min in between application to allow the BB Cream to settle in, and not mix up with my sunscreen.

I love this: 4.5/5 hearts.

I wouldn't say this is the Holy Grail sunscreen, but other than all those Japanese ones (Kireihada Kiss Me), and Eversoft (which is not as good as this), I think this is one of those safe and very skin-friendly ones that is so easily available locally.
