Yes To Cucumbers Facial Hydrating Lotion

I have been using the Yes To Cucumbers Hydrating Lotion for 5 months now, after I finished the daytime moisturizer from the Jericho Dead Sea Skincare Set.

I chose this because it claims to also contain dead sea minerals, and a large part of the ingredients are certified organic. So this is my first organic moisturizer! :)

About Yes To Cucumbers

I was a little apprehensive as I am aware that people with sensitive skin may not have very good experience with plant oil-based organic skincare. But till now, I think this does not disagree with my skin. :)

Yes To Cucumbers Hydrating Lotion

Available: Watsons

Volume: 50ml

Star Properties: Contains Organic Cucumbers, Aloe Vera, Spirulina, and Dead Sea Minerals. 99.6% Natural Ingredients. Free of Parabens, Petroleum and SLS.

Ingredients:

Packaging
It comes in a box and vacuum sealed in a pump bottle, which is standard for organic skincare.

Pump bottle of the lotion.

Texture
The lotion is watery as it claims (not like cream, but doesn't flows like water). I can feel that it is slightly oily, since this contains plant oils.

It is highly spreadable, although the slightly oily nature means that this takes some time to be absorbed into the skin. I normally wait about 15 min after applying this, to apply my sunscreen.

Effectiveness
However, I am quite disappointed with this lotion, as I don't see any difference after 5 months. Unlike some other creams, such Jericho and Bio Essence Night Moisturizer, this feels like just another moisturizer to use for the sake of using.

Price
I must say, I started off with Yes To Cucumber because of the organic promise and the dead sea minerals, despite its relatively much lower pricing, at about $15 for this bottle of 50ml.

Now that I find out this has no visible effect on my face, I think I will not repurchase or recommend much though.

Rating: 2.5/5
Probably will do for someone who just wants a moisturizer and like it to be thin and more or less organic.

Jericho Dead Sea Cosmetics: Luminous Skin Care Set

I have been mentioning that my current skin care routine involves dead sea products for some time now, not some time, but in actual fact, 13 months. I have been procrastinating the post on this, as I find myself having mixed reactions towards a couple of the items in the set. But now that I am through and through with it, FOR NOW, I think I have accumulated all the experience needed to do a good review on Jericho Dead Sea skincare products.

Jericho Dead Sea Cosmetics: Luminous Skin Care Set

Available: Jurong Point, Century Square, 313@Somerset, and many more. (I got mine at $200)

Volume: 5 items including Skin Toner (160ml), Mineral Serum (30g), Eye Gel (30g), Moisturizing Cream (50g) and Nourishing Cream (50g).

Star Properties: All products comes with Dead Sea Minerals, which is said to be miraculously soothing and healing, especially great for sensitive skin.

Packaging
I like the way it comes in a hard paper box with a magnetic clasp, because then, I can reuse it! haha. I reuse all these pretty and good quality large boxes to organize my makeup, hair accessories, etc.

But I find the actual containers and bottles a little bit cheapskate. The caps are all made of flimsy aluminium. The toner bottle is normal soft plastic. But the moisturizer pots are thick cosmetic grade ones. The mineral serum is vacuum packed, so it naturally comes in a better bottle.

Effectiveness
In general, I find that dead sea skincare is very good! I am pretty sucked onto the dead sea bandwagon, and have the idea of becoming a dead sea convert altogether!

I could feel the difference in the softness and overall balance of my skin just 2 weeks into using it. And I am so in love with its Mineral Serum.

Mineral Serum
This is my favourite item of the lot, because it is extremely enriching. According to the sales assistant, a serum is supposed to prep your skin to absorb the nutrients from subsequently applied moisturizers.

And this is really doing just that!

If I were to apply the Jericho moisturizer, which is a thick white cream directly onto toned skin, I will observe white streaks. But not if I had prep my skin with this serum.

However, the con to this skincare set is that the mineral serum finishes really quickly, just 3 months into using. While my toner and moisturizer have still not finished after 13 months!

I replaced this Mineral Serum with DHC Camu-camu Whitening Essence, and then SkinZ Infinite (which I posted about previously), and now Sanctuary Spa Collagen Whitening Serum. All 3 cannot match up to Jericho's own at all!

Basically, I must say, if you are using this entire skincare set, the Mineral Serum is a must, otherwise, the moisturizers would seem like a waste of money. But if you are not using the entire set, I highly recommend just getting this serum alone (if you can bargain down the price to less than $40, that is).

I really, really highly recommend this.

Skin Toner
I like this toner very much because it does not smells of alcohol, very mild and agrees with my sensitive skin.

The one thing that convinced me I should pay $40 for this is the cleansing properties!!

This toner can remove residue makeup very effectively, and you can see the difference if you use it on unclean skin. The cotton wool would turn up with dirt/sweat if you have not bathe for the day.

Definitely very good for people who only do light makeup, use a cleansing milk... ...

In fact, nowadays, when I get up in the morning, I just wipe my face with a hot water towel to exfoliate, then apply aloe vera gel to moisturize/mask. I use my ice packs from my epilator to ice my face, then wash off the mask, and tone. This will effectively brighten my face for the whole day!

Skin Toner (Left) and Mineral Serum (Right)

Moisturizing Cream and Nourishing Cream
Of the entire face care set, I am not fond of the moisturizers. They are really, really, really thick, especially in the beginning. Awfully hard to spread, and I had to spritz some Evian/Avene water to apply the cream.

It's only after a while, that the cream seems to loosen up a little, and becomes more like normal, spreadable cream.

Eye Gel
I don't think this is effective for dark circles, but I swear by it for fine lines!

I even use it on my laugh lines, and I saw significant improvement. Totally amazing.

Eye Gel, Moisturizing Cream and Nourishing Cream.

Overall rating: 4/5
Apart from the moisturizers, I do find dead sea products very effective and soothing for sensitive skin. Moreover, an average of $40 per item lasts me till now, which is the 13th month. Only the serum runs down in two months.

I'd recommend the Mineral Serum and Skin Toner to everyone. :D

PS: prices may defer, as it seems that you can actually "bargain".
